Breaking News - Helicopter Crashes in Lake Nakuru Minutes after Take off

There were five people on board a male pilot, including three male passengers and a female passenger,” KCAA’s Director General Captain Gilbert Kibe said in a statement.

The helicopter which is and operated by Flex Air Charters run by Captain Bootsy Mutiso, and dismissed some media that it belongs to President Uhuru Kenyatta.


Three of the passengers in the chopper were identified as the media team of Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika.

The pilot is also known but the fourth passenger—a lady remain unknown, The chopper crashed into Lake Nakuru at about 6am, shortly after take-off from Jarica Hotel in the town where it had been parked since Wednesday. According to the hotel management, the four male passengers who were in the copter checked in their hotel rooms on Friday at 6pm and left. They came back on Saturday morning at 6am in the company of a lady and boarded the helicopter which was parked in the hotel’s field

An official at the National Disaster Management unit said they had mobilized a team to the site to undertake a search and recovery which had not started by midday.
