iphone 8 Plus Specifications and Review

iphone 8 Plus Specifications and Review

It’s been over a month since the iPhone 8 was released and I have to say, compared to all the other iPhone versions, this gadget is quite underwhelming in its uptake. Unlike its predecessors, we didn’t see fanatics lining up in front of Apple stores eager to get their hands on the new iPhone.

It can be argued that this is because Apple is launching iPhone X this coming November to mark 10 years ever since it launched its first ever device. The 2007 iPhone set the pace for a long line of Apple mobile products, which have revolutionized the smartphone industry.

A situation of uncertainty and confusion has been brewing for a while now among Apple fanatics and customers at large on whether to buy the new iphone8, or wait until November to purchase the iPhone X. Whichever direction you wish to take, it’s better to proceed after reviewing appropriate information and considering vital factors such as cost and features found in both products.

Here’s a deeper look at the additions made in the iPhone 8 and what the manufacturers would have done better.

Top of the Line Camera

iPhone is normally on top of the bunch when it comes to the quality of its cameras. Like its predecessor, the iPhone7, the iPhone8 has stayed in pace with a 12-megapixel main camera. The camera has an f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, and HDR.

The iPhone 8 also has a 7-megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture. It has enviable video capturing capabilities with 4k and 1080 pixels resolution limitations. It captures images at 6frames-per-second and can also take 240 fps slow-motion videos, which are rarely witnessed in most smartphones currently on the market.

Wireless Charging

Perhaps the feature that most people have been talking about, the iPhone 8 comes packed with an 1821mAP battery that supports wireless charging. This feature is an excellent addition since it’s also a step forward in charging technology. Normally, you are required to carry a cable or a charger around to charge your phone; we are all accustomed to these questions, ‘do you have an extra cable/charging port? Can I use your charger? I’m at 20 percent, and the likes,’ but iPhone 8 has none of those issues.

While wireless charging is a little slower than cable charging, it is effortless, all you have to do is place the iPhone 8 on top of the charging pad.

Great performance

This version of the iPhone has a new A11 bionic chip in the processor making it the fastest out of all smartphones out there. This feature was validated by Greek bench tests, which were run against powerhouses like the Galaxy S8 and the HTC U11. This feature also contributes to a longer battery life since the A11 processor makes smart use of all the processes taking place inside the phone.

Cons

Design

iPhones have the same look from their predecessors to the latest inclusion to Apple’s catalogue, the iPhone 8. However, most people were hoping for an exciting new look, guess the design is a brand in itself. Apple has maintained the same look ever since the iPhone6, which has seen the iPhone 8’s design deemed a legacy look in 2017.  Not to mention, seeing its smartphone competitors on the market are doing an excellent job regarding their phones’ outlooks, Apple should have known better than to regurgitate an old design.

Display

The iPhone 8 screen uses an IPS LCD display, which can also be found in iPhone 7. Most people feel that the phone would have been much better if Apple had used an OLED display.

Conclusion

Trying to convince an iPhone fan that the phone series is overrated is almost impossible. However, some iPhone fanatics have expressed their disdain over the new iPhone 8 and openly admitted to expecting better from Apple. Still, iPhone has some unique features and is still hot in the market, maybe we’ll warm up to it after we realize its full potential.
