Peter Kenneth and Senator Sonko unity

Peter Kenneth and Senator Sonko unity

The unity of Nairobi governor aspirant Peter Kenneth and Senator Sonko is the best solution for Jubilee as it will floor Nairobi governor Evans Kidero in the August 8th contest. The plan is centered on a 50-50 power sharing agreement proposal between Kenneth and Sonko, a copy of which is to be deposited with the Registrar of Political Parties. “We think it’s a lot more logical to unite the two candidates against Kidero than to keep fighting among ourselves. The idea is to get them agree on a power-sharing agreement on a 50-50 basis. “Said a source within jubilee. Our audience also believes the unity of Sonko and Kenneth can be a big blow to Nasa candidates

On Thursday Shortly after the party initially rejected his papers, Sonko is reported to have met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi later that evening. Sonko’s papers would later be accepted at the JP headquarters on Thursday without much drama. Party insiders say during the meeting, the President insisted on the need to form one united force to face-off with Dr Kidero. President Kenyatta reportedly said Sonko and Kenneth’s teams must deliver a conclusive unity pact that Jubilee will front in Nairobi. The President went on to emphasize particularly  on the need for two governors  to unite so as to be  on one ticket in which one is the governor candidate and the other his running mate, but with a clear power sharing agreement .

New governance is direly needed in Nairobi and the two leaders are believed to have what it takes. After presenting his nomination papers, Peter Kenneth spoke of his candidacy stating that,” Jubilee will have one governor who will deal with Dr Kidero conclusively.” Starehe MP Maina Kamanda emphasized on Peter Kenneth praises saying that,” Most Nairobi MPs are supporting Peter Kenneth, not because the others gunning for governor are our enemies, but because we believe he is the best. “This move will also keep the Jubilee team intact and in more power. Both Sonko and Kenneth are jubilee’s strong hold yet they are always under feud.

The Sunday standard reports that Sonko disclaimed the report that he will be Kenneth’s running mate calling it “joke of the year. “He further stated that no such arrangement have been reached and that he was "fully prepared" to face any opponent during nominations.Kenneth and Sonko are said to have met on Friday to discuss the possibility of joining forces ahead of the August 8th general elections. The two supposedly met at an undisclosed location near Nyeri.  Sources said Kenneth asked Sonko for his support and that the Senator said he was willing to consider this, especially if the President asked him to quit the race. The Nairobi county chief race has resulted in the formation of two factions. Sonko’s team includes Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Margaret Wanjiru (former Starehe) and Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti South). Those supporting Kenneth, who is from Murang'acounty, include Nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi and MPs Rachel Shebesh (woman representative), Maina Kamanda (Starehe) and James Gakuya (Embakasi North).
